Protecting Ceylinco Insurance: Successfully Completing the Lightning Protection System Installation Project
We are proud to announce the completion of our latest project – the installation of a lightning protection system at the premises of Ceylinco Insurance. Lightning strikes can cause significant damage to buildings and electronic equipment, and as a responsible and safety-conscious organization, Ceylinco Insurance recognized the importance of protecting their property from such risks. In this blog post, we’ll take a closer look at how we successfully completed the project, the key components used to ensure lightning protection, and the importance of equi-potential bonding.

Franklin Rods: The Key to Effective Lightning Protection For the lightning protection system at Ceylinco Insurance Head office, we opted to use copper Franklin rods. These rods are designed to capture the lightning strike and safely conduct the electrical energy to the ground. Franklin rods are a proven and effective solution for lightning protection and are widely used in modern construction projects.
Copper Tape: Ensuring Efficient Electrical Conductivity In addition to Franklin rods, we also used copper tape in our lightning protection system installation. Copper tape is an important component as it helps ensure efficient electrical conductivity between the Franklin rods and the earthing system. This helps to direct the electrical charge safely to the ground and away from the building.
Copper Bonded Earth Rods: A Reliable Earthing Solution To ensure a reliable earthing system for the lightning protection installation, we utilized copper bonded earth rods. These rods are designed to provide a low impedance path for electrical current to flow from the Franklin rods to the earth. The copper bonding ensures a high level of conductivity, and the rods are resistant to corrosion and rust, providing a long-lasting and reliable earthing solution.
Equi-Potential Bonding: The Importance of Connecting Metal Objects In addition to the above components, equi-potential bonding is also an important aspect of lightning protection. Metal objects within a building, such as water pipes, electrical wiring, and structural steel, can conduct electrical charges during a lightning strike. If these metal objects are not properly bonded to the lightning protection system, they can create dangerous differences in electrical potential, leading to electric shock hazards, equipment damage, and even fires.
By connecting all metal objects within the building to the lightning protection system, we can eliminate the risk of dangerous potential differences. Equi-potential bonding ensures that all metal objects in the building are at the same electrical potential, reducing the risk of electrical hazards and protecting electronic equipment from damage.
Conclusion: The installation of the lightning protection system at Ceylinco Insurance was a success. We were able to provide a comprehensive solution that utilized the most effective components in the industry, ensuring that the premises are protected from the risks of lightning strikes. By including equi-potential bonding in our lightning protection system installation, we have taken an additional step towards ensuring the safety of the building’s occupants and the protection of valuable electronic equipment. At the end of the project, we conducted thorough testing to ensure that the system was working effectively, giving the client peace of mind knowing that their property is fully protected.
